Janet Montgomery is an English television and film actress. In Salem she portrays the lead character Mary Sibley and briefly she portrays Countess Von Marburg in series finale.
Early and Personal Life
Janet was born in Bournemouth but now lives in Islington, London with both her boyfriend and her bulldog named Guthrie.
Career
Janet originally trained as a dancer at the Stella Mann College of Performing Arts in Bedford. However later chose to persue acting professionally instead of dance. Initially it was difficult for her to gain acting representation because of her lack of training in drama. After she produced a play alongside her friend Gethin Anthony she achieved a breakout.
In 2008, she appeared in some of her first projects such as the television series skins, tv movie Dis/Connected, and short film Flushed. The following year she appeared in several straight to dvd movies like the Hills Run Red, Wrong Turn 3:Left For Dead and lifetime movie Accused at 17. Later in 2010 she appeared in her first theatrically released films such as Dead Cert, and the Black Swan. Later that year she appeared in her first comedy Our Idiot Brother in which she received rave reviews. She was later offered roles in television series like The League and Human Target.
Later in 2012 she portrayed the lead role in the television series Made In Jersey although the series was cancelled after only two episodes had aired she received compliments and a career boost. She later attracted the interest of Stephen Poliakoff from an audition tape for Dancing on the Edge and was given the job via Skype. She later appeared in the Spies of Warsaw, the Gothica ABC pilot, Downton Abbey, and This Is Us. She currently portrays Mary Sibley in Salem.
